Art Farmer

Jazz trumpeter, flugelhornist, composer, and bandleader.
Farmer became admired for a warm, lyrical tone and a thoughtful style that balanced bebop invention with melodic restraint. His work with the Jazztet and many major jazz artists helped establish the flugelhorn as a leading modern jazz voice.
Melvin Van Peebles

Willie Lanier

Lanier became the first Black star established at middle linebacker in professional football, challenging racist assumptions about leadership at the position. As the heart of the Kansas City Chiefs’ defense, he helped the team win Super Bowl IV.
Loretta Devine

Actress, singer, voice performer, and Emmy Award winner.
