Satchel Paige

Real name: Leroy Robert Paige

Negro Leagues pitcher, Major League Baseball pioneer, and Baseball Hall of Famer.

Paige became one of the most legendary pitchers in baseball history, first in the Negro Leagues and later in Major League Baseball. His talent, showmanship, longevity, and Hall of Fame recognition made him a symbol of Black excellence in baseball before and after integration.

Lisa Leslie
